Institute of Technology Sligo
Overview
Since it first opened in September 1970, Institute of Technology Sligo has been one of Ireland’s leading third level institutions. It is home to 6,000 students across the Institute’s full-time, part-time and apprenticeship programmes.
IT Sligo is the place to help you get ahead in the world of work with an industry placement. The School provides undergraduate and postgraduate courses and boasts of programmes tailored by working closely with the industry to suit market needs. Industry placements are also available at IT Sligo owing to their links with leading companies and employers.
Services for International Students
IT Sligo has some of the best lecture halls in the country, with library facilities also highly regarded. Sports and recreation are available and centered around the Knocknarea Arena, with an astro pitch, running track, fully equipped gym and outdoor activities like surfing, sailing, fishing and mountaineering.
There are over 30 clubs and societies to choose from and the Students Services building offers a number of support services to international students and has a lounge, a prayer room, TV, sofas and bean bags.
Accommodation
Accommodation is amply available with over 2,000 beds across seven purpose-built student accommodations, all within a short distance of IT Sligo. Flats or shared houses are very affordable and attractive. Options include The Gateway Apartments, Yeats Village and Lake Isle Accommodation. There are also a number of popular areas off campus including Mulberry Park, The Mall and Clarion Village.
Location
IT Sligo is within walking distance from Sligo town centre and one hour away from the Ireland West Airport. 3 hours away from Dublin, the town is easily accessible by bus, rail and road connections.
